| I've been meaning to post a full writeup but I wanted to get to the track and run an 11 first ;) That being said, I've been extremely pleased with them. Pros: -Shaved 5 tenths off my stack of 12.5 second 1/4 mile timeslips (12.04 after simply dropping in the gears, the very next time out). Individual results will vary but even a few big turbo cars have noticed significant drops in times. -Power is MUCH more "on demand" when I step on it, anywhere in the band. Much more fun to drive the car. -Relatively inexpensive for what you get (~$1,000 installed) -I find it actually easier to drive the car now (because of how linear the power comes in). This will likely be of great benefit to track drivers as my TTZ has yet to see one with the gears (Scott has though!). Cons: -As with nearly every set of "Performance gears" for any car, they tend to make a different sound when going through the gears and decelerating. They call it a "performance whine" in the industry...but I think that's just sugarcoating it, heh. Even so, it's VERY minimal on the Z (the diff shop was amazed at how quiet they are compared to gears on domestics). For the ultra-sensitive, you may hear it every now and then. I don't notice it anymore at all because either it has gone away as they broke in or I'm used to it. -$1,000 (installed). It might sting at first, but really, it's NOT a lot of money for what you get. Short of nitrous oxide or a turbo upgrade, you aren't going to get anywhere near the boost in performance from any other single modification, especially for the price. The bang-for-the-buck is awesome. The gears are not for everyone but for those looking for a good boost in performance on the street or a significant boost in track/drag conditions, this is a great modification. I'm very pleased with mine. I must also say that Mark Leader is indeed a friend of mine and I did get a discount for being a test car (one of a few). But I assure you, everything I say about it is 100% genuine. I wont back a product unless it really performs, regardless of the person I know. These things rock :)
If you think defending quality shops and site sponsors with proven records makes him a whore, then you are the ones with the problem. Stop being bitches. - October 21, 2003 at 06:16 PM
